Mentorship

Are you an OT or PT who aspires to provide practical and life-changing therapy to those with pelvic and other orthopedic injuries, folks preparing and healing from childbirth, and those with any bladder bowel and/or sexual dysfunction? Are you a solo practitioner that craves clarity, support in difficult cases, and to develop your skill set further without waiting for the occasional big course every 6 months? Are you a practitioner that knows there is deeper purpose in some specialized therapy, and looking for direction?

Choosing the pelvic health specialty as an Occupational Therapist is the best thing I ever did. It brought purpose to my life, allowed me to grow enormously as a clinician, and pushed me to grow as a leader and pioneer in a new and emerging area of practice for OTs.

I wish I had even known this was a specialty for the first 7 years of my career as an OT. I would have given anything to save those 7 years I was not using my true passion and skill set. I wish I been shown a path to obtain the skills necessary and quickly to provide what, I believe, is an education and service that all humans should know is available to them.

See, I did it a bit backwards. I was always driven to understand the human body and how it worked. Anatomy and fitness were my jam. Physiology, the mind-body connection, and healing through movement, nutrition, breathwork, and meditation were things I studied and sought out on a regular basis. I hopped around to many jobs as an OT, still not sure where I fit. I wanted to do bodywork, support patients’ mental and emotional wellbeing, and guide people in achieving not only baseline after an injury, but reach for their goals. Over the course of my life, I’ve trained as a yoga therapist, trained in abdominal massage and visceral mobilization, done a myriad of coaching programs, and learned manual therapy for upper and lower body.

It wasn’t until I had almost left my career as an OT that I discovered pelvic floor therapy as a specialty. I was immediately jolted with an exhilarating feeling, yet grounded. I had found my calling. I spent the next year investing in my future with complete dedication. I spent thousands on continuing education, practiced my skills on friends, seeking work. Lucky for me, there were no jobs. I had a new challenge ahead of me which was to make my work a reality and build a supportive network from the ground up. I now have an incredible team of 7 clinicians that openly share skills, mentor each other, and band together as a collaborative team daily.

At Vibrancy, we promote mentorship and teamwork. We know that getting clinical mentorship to support the most optimal clinical decision making for pelvic health can be a challenge. That is why when team members join Vibrancy, I, the founder of Vibrancy provide direct 1:1 training to help my therapists become specialists from the ground up. Many skills in manual therapy, visceral manipulation, lymph and vascular mobilization, as well as other subtle body work are necessary to provide hands on treatment for many pelvic conditions. Learning the proper clinical reasoning through very complex conditions is key and having support in that process is tremendously helpful and rewarding.
